Jeff is a post-doctoral research associate in the Vector Biology department at LSTM. He holds a PhD in Computer Science and has diverse research interests in multi-agent behaviour, swarm-based image analysis, pattern formation, collective computation, amorphous robotics and computing in non-neural substrates.

At LSTM, Jeff develops computational approaches to mosquito behaviour analysis, with the aim of speeding up the development and evaluation of vector control tools. This includes three-dimensional modelling of mosquito flight around human-baited bed nets, video analysis of the WHO cone bioassay, and motion estimation of mosquitoes in cages and the Peet-Grady chamber. His current work uses machine learning to assess mosquito responses to vapour-phase insecticides. He has developed software for a range of analysis and visualisation methods of mosquito behaviour for multiple internal and external project partners.
