Tim supports the group’s volatile insecticide testing, including Peet-Grady chamber and benchtop bioassays. He began his academic journey with a BSc in Biomedical Science from Oxford Brookes University, where his final-year project on pyrethroid resistance mutations in Aedes albopictus sparked his interest in mosquitoes and insecticide resistance. He went on to complete an MSc in Control of Infectious Diseases at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), where his project involved fieldwork in The Gambia mapping insecticide resistance in Anopheles gambiae s.l. and developing skills in genetic and molecular laboratory techniques. The MSc also gave him exposure to broader public health disciplines, including epidemiology, statistics and health policy.

Within the Methods Group, Tim’s work focuses primarily on experiments in the Peet-Grady chamber. These projects have included optimising chamber experimental conditions and developing new methodologies to support the screening and evaluation of novel active ingredients.
